Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus chooses Bercella for the Carbon Fiber Monocoque of its new racer for the 2021 Le Mans 24 Hours
Varano de’ Melegari (Parma), 18th January 2021 – Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus, the American manufacturer of high performance boutique racing and road cars, is partnering with Bercella for its next challenge: bring back to the United Stated the victory of the 2021 Le Mans race with its new racer.
Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus will race in Le Mans 2021 with the SCG 007, an entirely new prototype racer. SCG007 will rank in the category Hypercar in the FIA World Endurance Championship 2020/2021, 50 years after Ford GT40’s last American victory in 1969.
Back in mid-2018, Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus was the first manufacturer to officially announce its participation according to the new Le Mans Hypercar (LMH) rules. Several manufacturers raised concerns about the tight timelines implied by the new regulations to design and build new cars.
Bercella accepted the challenge and committed to deliver the SCG007 chassis, FIAS (Front Impact Absorbing Structures) and RIAS (Rear Impact Absorbing Structures) in due time, dealing for the first with the new technical regulatory landscape.
SCG dedicated teams are currently collaborating with Bercella joining experience and commitment for the realisation of this premiere Hypercar model. The Composites structures, currently in prototype phase, are scheduled for testing later this year. Bercella’s 25 years experience in providing structural parts for racing and sports cars with over 1.000 monocoques produced so far, coupled with its consolidated know-how and reliability on demanding racing projects were key success factors for the American Team’s choice.
As an Italian company in a territory of excellence, with this project Bercella confirms its origins and DNA, embodying all the best features of the Italian Motor Valley: high flexibility, fast response time, advanced skills and solid know-how for maximum performance. All the ingredients to take up a new challenge with the determination to win it, just in line with Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus’s ambition for World Endurance Championship 2020/2021.
